Nan and Pop Argentina

Dear loved ones, Well June has surely been full of great experiences. When we first arrived on our mission, our stake president called us in and asked us if we would focus on the young adults in our ward and stake, that they needed alot of support and guidance. We had no idea how to do that or how it would work, but we are spending a good amount of time after office with that age group. The bishop has us meeting weekly with a young women 26 returned missionary that made a mistake and doesnt feel good enough. We love her and she surely is good enough. We take them to the Temple, have them to our house for dinner alot and share inspirational talks and thoughts with them. One young Women, Lis Arias is also amazing, she works here for the church and helps us so much with the language and computer and where to buy cheaper fruit and veggies. She is coming to BYU in the ESL program in August and we will really miss her. She helps our new converts find family names so we can take them to the Temple for baptisms. Gustavo is a new convert that we love and spend lots of time with, he is a young single adult that loves the gospel and sells clothes for his business. This sunday we have been asked to speak at the single adult fireside at 6 and have our regularly scheduled my pathway devotional 11/2 hour training for the missionaries going home on the other side of this enormous city with four missions. We will do our best to not be too late to the fireside. Its a little different here, most everything starts late, but usually not church on sundays. We were asked to spend a few hours with a young sister missionary that was en route from her mission en Comodoro Riviadavia going home early with some emotional problems(only four months early). I felt such love for her, like she was my own granddaughter, we hugged and cryed and poured out our hearts. she feels like a failure and that she is letting her family down. She didnt want to go home, but had no choice as the mission pres. wanted to keep her safe. I assured her that Heavenly Father was pleased with her great efforts and she was not a failure(Satan is the master of lies) that she blessed so many lives and now she has a choice to hold her head up and go forward with faith in our Savior. Fill her days with the Spirit, work at the Temple, serve in her ward, attend institute and share her Testimony with anyone who will listen. Pop and I took her over to our beautiful Rose garden and Park with lake and geese and we found many families and couples to share the Gospel with. Then the medical advisor from Chile came and they went to the airport to fly home to Salt Lake. Lots of my prayers are going to her.

We helped at the Bishops storehouse for a little while this week with the Humanitarian missionaries. We girls sorted and hung up clothes and the boys stocked shelves.

Each Thursday eve we have our Pathway class with 10 church employees doing their semester weekly group gathering where they each take turns facilitating the class in English.with our help as native english speakers. They are such amazing people, with families, work all day at the church area offices, big church callings and over 20 hours a week doing their Pathway studies from BYU- Idaho. Wonderful examples to us. Each week I make treats for them: choclate chip cookies, brownies, lemon bars, carrott cake,ect. The first six months on our mission I hardly cooked a thing as finding what I needed in spanish and in a different culture took a bit of time. But now watch out; Ive found everything I need or have brought it from home. Today Im taking cut up fruit; as Im feeling guilty giving them only gunk to eat. Tomorrow night we are going to our three less active part member families to do family home evening and Ive sure taken lots of gunk their to the kids especially, so fruit might be good. One week the kids wanted cupcakes so I brought them unfrosted with the frosting in bags that we cut the corners off and lots of different sprinkles to choose from and they loved decorating their own. It makes me so sad to see these little ones missing out on primary and learning the gospel while they are young. Their parents all say they have to work during church. Ive tried to take the kids but to no avail yet. Kind of like the Herdmans in our old ward in Provo. We kept taking the kids to church till the parents finally started coming and the dad babtized the mom.Love is the most powerful motivating force for good, and it comes from the Spirit and the grace and mercy of our Savior.. I love it................... To my amazing kids and grandkids; Remember you are ENOUGH and you will make it, as long as you keep repenting, dont rationalize or rebel...... Keep it simple.. just do the next right thing......We trully do think you are the best and teach us so much by the way you have choosen to live. How can we overcome the World? One prayer, scripture, FHE, sabbath observance, temple attendance at a time........ Do we only know about the Savior, or are we increasingly coming to know Him?
