Dear people we love, Just a recap of the last month that flew by. We worked hard to get all our reports in and data from our 196 Easter Open Chapels in each of our 28 missions. What a great effort by so many. We had a total of 14281 visitors to our events with 2955 non members attending and 585 less actives(many feeling the spirit and coming back to church) and 4437 referrals generated for the missionaries and ward and stake mission leaders to follow up with. We have many baptisms as a result of these open chapels. The members and missionaries work hard to invite everyone they know to come and even lots of street inviting on the day of the event.Getting the world into our churches for a short tour is a great introduction to the restored Gospel. Its a wonderful missionary tool and strengthens the testimonies of the members. Its such a privilege to work with these wonderful young missionaries and see their dedication, obedience and enthusiasm for the Gospel. We love knowing our own Lisel and Cayden are out working just as hard and making such a difference in the world. Just in a different place and language. We also love the leaders and members here. They teach us so much. They have such a culture of respect and kindness and thoughtfulness to one another. We have three less active part member families and one non member family that we are meeting with regularly. Don took two teenagers to the fathers and son camp out that didn't have dads to go with. Hes the best. I was gone to Utah for two weeks to help Ali and family while she had her open heart surgery. I hope I helped take a little worry off. I know I sure enjoyed the children and spending time with them. I have the best grandchildren in the world. But I think their parents are pretty amazing too. Im not sure who raised them. It must have been Don with his pure heart and no guile. No I think it was because we have never wavered in our devotion to the Restored Gospel and the Atonement makes up for all our mistakes when we do the best we can on that day. We are so grateful for Eternal families,all those who are helping from the other side of the veil too. For Temples and authority to administer these sacred saving ordinances.For the Book of Mormon that can teach and strengthen us each day. For living Prophets that give us amazing counsel to follow. We are so blessed to be on the winning team and better make darn sure we stay here active and living the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the best of our abilities every day. We finished our last treks of the season and had a fun reunion with the Chacabucco stake youth see attached photo. These are wonderful youth here who know who they are and desire to keep the commandments.We surely are enjoying teaching a self-reliance devotional to the missionaries here in Buenos Aires as they finish their missions and head for home. That is were to go for those 12 amazing videos under self reliance in the second manual my foundation, in the church library. Such great discussions for Family home evenings and principles that we all need to review often. I think we should change the word self-reliance to God reliance. He is who we trust and turn to for help with everything. Everything in our lives is how it is supposed to be when we rely on Him and His teachings. Our flying budget has been reduced by the area President so we will be training in the other missions with technology mostly and focusing our personal meetings here locally. Since we have been in Paraguay, Uruguay,Chile and to most parts Argentina we will concentrate here with the four local missions a bit more. We get 6 new mission presidents next month so constant change to keep us working and learning. We just moved our area offices to the new buildings so no more crowded subways twice a day, we just walk 15 minutes from our apartment. I miss the opportunities to practice Spanish and share the Gospel with pass along cards and books of Mormon. I love the wonderful people here and all the church employees we work with. We have been asked to be pathway missionaries for a group of church employees and we are learning so much at the hour and half gatherings each week, and as on our first mission Im making more chocolate chip cookies than Mrs Fields. Well maybe not quite. We have several new missionary couples here in the Area. and three go home in the next two weeks. If you can believe it . We are the next in line to finish our mission, only five more months. It is flying. The Nielsens,medical return to West Jordon Utah, The Williams, accounting to Seattle Washington, and the Lecursis family history to Mendoza Argentina. we have a new member friend that is 30, his name is Gustavo. Our friend Lis has helped him to find some family names and we are taking him to the temple to do baptisms. The retention rate for new members goes way up if we get them to the Temple to do baptisms within three months of their baptism. Interesting how Elijahs promise of turning the hearts of the children to their parents is truly affecting all parts of the latter day work. Family History is where its at. So many on the other side of the veil praying for the missionaries to find their families and teach them the gospel so they can have their saving ordinances done. Its getting colder down here as winter is setting in, two winters last year and two again this year as we return home the first part of November. No snow inBuenos Aires tho.
